The Swaddle wrap is a pressure wrap for dogs that makes use of 4-way stretch elastic fabric and velcro to create a tight-fitting garment that is worn during stressful events. The fabric is breathable and the low thermo-conductivity of the fabric keeps your dog cool in summer and warm in winter.
How does the Swaddle wrap work?
When fitted properly, the Swaddle wrap creates distributed pressure over the chest, sides, and back of the body that has a calming effect. Being wrapped gives the dog a feeling of safety and comfort and restores the dogs’ self-assurance. After a short training period (see instructions below, under the “IMPORTANT” header) your dog will feel this relaxed state also during stressful situations and be able to handle them much easier.
Make sure that you introduce the Swaddle wrap when your dog is in a calm state because the dog needs to associate the Swaddle wrap with a relaxed mood. This means that you must bring him to that calm state first and then introduce the Swaddle wrap leaving it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Repeat this process a few times over a couple of days before using it for an actual stressful event. If you introduce the Swaddle wrap when your dog is already at an elevated anxiety level, then his mental state will overrule the calming effect of the Swaddle wrap.
The Swaddle wrap is made of a cotton Spandex knit fabric, a smooth knit fabric comprised of natural cotton with a small percent of Spandex. The cotton is blended with Spandex to give it the excellent 4-way stretch and recovery necessary for the Swaddle wrap. Cotton Spandex knit is known for its all-season comfort. It is considered to be friendly to the skin due to its breathability and ability to absorb moisture.
